To see microbes as they exist in gingival biofilm samples, they have to be mounted in a solution that mimics the properties of crevicular fluid. OraPrep is balanced to the pH of crevicular fluid and ensures that what you see on a slide truly represents the subgingival microflora in the sulcus.

Important! Never Use:

• Normal Saline: It’s pH is higher than crevicular fluid. Microbes and WBC’s dehydrate and die in seconds.
• Tap Water: The pH is too low. Worse, it’s often chlorinated.
• Distilled Water: The worst possible choice. Causes instant lysis of most cells.
